Breath.

Inhale, 2, 3, 4… Pause… Exhale, 2, 3, 4… Pause… Inhale, 2, 3,4…

The rhythmical nature of breath connects us to our bodies, to others, and to the pulse of the earth. Inhaling, we take in the world around us: the scent of another, the aroma of baking bread, the crispness of a cold winter morning.

Exhaling, we release built up tension and toxins in our bodies; we come back to the reality of ourselves and our bodies.

Breath connects us to our sadness and fear, our loneliness and joy. In fear, we hold our breath. In safety, we let go.

We live in an ocean of air like fish in a body of water. By our breathing we are attuned to our atmosphere. If we inhibit our breathing we isolate ourselves from the medium in which we exist. In all Oriental and mystic philosophies, the breath holds the secret to the highest bliss.

Alexander Lowen

The continuous rhythm of inhale and exhale, breathing in and breathing out, is our body’s intimate contact with life, our opportunity to ground, our chance to expand.  Come explore with us all aspects of Breath. Join us for a weekend of Bioenergetics. Tune in and discover your body’s innate capacity for feeling alive.

Keynote Speakers

Diana Guest LMFT, CBT, is a member of the IIBA international faculty and has taught in the US, Brazil, Argentina, New Zealand and China.

Stephan Zusman, Ph.D., CBT, has been in private practice for over 40 years in Encino, CA. He was trained in Bioenergetic Analysis in the 1970’s and was Executive Director of SCIBA in 2003 & 04. He is trained in Somatic Experiencing and Somatic Experience Touch and is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

The more of your body you feel, the more opportunities you have to let go through the breath. Breath can only breathe through a body in touch with itself.

    • Describe different therapeutic methods connecting to ones breath.
    • Identify a bioenergetic technique to work with contractions that limit breath and the ability to resonate with clients.

Questions?

What should you wear/bring?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move and express yourself freely. For workshops and process groups, shorts, leotards, sweats, and T-shirts are appropriate. During the end of February and early March temperatures in the San Bernardino Mountains in general, average 40-60 degrees during the day and in the 30s at night. Weather conditions vary from sun to rain or snow. Thus, it’s wise to be prepared for the possibility of wet or snowy weather. Bring snow boots that have good traction in the snow, and be sure to plan your wardrobe to account for this possibility. Typically, March is the driest of the winter months; however weather in the mountains during February is a bit unpredictable, so, we suggest you check weather reports prior to your trip.
Are there any discounts available?
We want to make this event open and accessible to all. If you have financial hardship, please get in touch with us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
